Man killed in early morning homicide in Bladensburg, Md.

A man was killed early Wednesday in Bladensburg, Md., officials said.

His name was not immediately released, pending notification of his family.

The Bladensburg Police Department said the incident happened just after midnight when officers responded to the 4300 block of 57th Avenue for a report of the sound of gunfire. When they arrived, they found a man with trauma to the upper body.

He was taken to an area hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Police said they are trying to figure out a motive and find a suspect or suspects in this case. The Prince George’s County Police Department will lead the investigation.
